Established 32 years and continuing a pioneering history in plastics, spanning more than 50 years
The family name Copely has been associated with the plastics industry for more than 50 years; Mr James Dorrien Copely Senior being one of the pioneers of thermo-plastic extrusion and inventor of 'open mesh' reinforced PVC pressure hose in 1950. His innovative ideas in tube and hose extrusion, coupled with developments in the design and manufacture of extrusion equipment were recognised both at home and overseas. Copely Developments Ltd, as the Company title implies, continues today with the same philosophy of development and innovation.
Copely Developments Ltd was formed in 1973, following the acquisition of the original Copely business by Delta Metal PLC. The first directors were Mr Brian Copely, Mr Clifford Cooper and Mr James D Copely Senior, (technical consultant). The new Company installed the latest state of the art plant and downstream equipment, which was largely designed and manufactured in house or by their associate Company Floataire Ltd. Since formation the Company has sustained a progressive growth path, in spite of turbulent market conditions in manufacturing worldwide. Raw materials sourcing from leading Polymer Suppliers such as EMS-Chemie, PVC Group, Hydropolymers, EVC and Dupont have enabled Copely to maintain a lead in their chosen field.
Today, our products meet international standards, many of which are industry 'firsts' Copely were the first in their field to to be granted BS 5750 registration in 1987, followed shortly after by BS EN ISO 9002. In July 2003 we were assessed and approved to BS EN ISO 9001:2000. Our test laboratory is equipped with the latest state of the art apparatus much of which has been designed and built by our engineering department. Custom made tubes and hoses are used by market leaders such as: British Airways, British Oxygen - Ohmeda division, Chubb Fire, BAe Systems, Atlas Copco and Ingersoll Rand, to name but a few.
All processing within our factory is environmentally 'friendly', in that all water used is recycled and tested daily. All manufacturing waste is recycled and tools are cleaned under vacuum eliminating any burning of polymers. Our recycling techniques have been the subject of overseas license in a number of countries.
