Copely Developments Ltd is pleased to announce further expansion following its acquisition earlier this month (August 2013) of Leicestershire based Emplas Ltd.
Emplas, a privately owned business, has been established for over 40 years. The company, founded by Richard Costello, is a well-known, respected manufacturer of PVC hoses and extruded profiles. Emplas is widely regarded as a leading UK manufacturer of garden hose, and is also a prominent supplier to both the caravan and marine industries.
Copely’s acquisition follows Richard Costello’s decision to retire from the business which he, and his team, have so successfully grown over the years to meet the extrusion and tubing needs of a diverse range of customers. The company has been producing over half a million metres of tubes and profiles every month.
Emplas will now trade as a division of Copely Developments. The Emplas operation, previously based in Fleckney, is currently being relocated to the Copely Developments’ facility in Leicester. Customers of Emplas will be reassured to know that its entire team of employees will be moving to the Copely business too, with the exception of Richard Costello. Every effort is being made to make the transfer of ownership and assets as seamlessly as possible.
“There is a great synergy between the two businesses and this is exciting for all concerned,” explains Steve Walton, Operations Director – Copely Developments. “Both Copely and Emplas are respected names in hose and tubing manufacture, and together we can now be even stronger through greater flexibility and product choice. For Copely, it expands our offering to the leisure market, while for Emplas it provides access to Copely’s extensive product ranges, resources and infrastructure as part of the COBA International group of companies.”
On retirement from Emplas, Richard Costello says, “This marks a new era for Emplas and the team. I have complete peace of mind that the company, its people and its customers are in safe and very capable hands as part of Copely Developments. I am delighted that the Emplas workforce is being retained and I can rest-assured that our customers will continue to have a very high standard of service with Copely’s management team at the helm. I would like to extend my thanks to Emplas employees for their hard work over the years and my gratitude to our loyal customers. I wish everyone the very best.”
