Established 36 years and continuing a pioneering history in plastics, spanning more than 50 years.
Copely Developments Ltd was formed in 1973 following the acquisition in 1968 of the successful family plastics manufacturing business, J Dorrien Copely (Plastics) Ltd, by the international organisation, Delta Group PLC.
From its inception, Copely Developments Ltd, combined a wealth of both technical and marketing know-how, complemented by an array of state of the art plant and equipment, some being manufactured by associate Company Floataire Ltd and located in a new factory geared to compete at international level. To this day, the Company has remained a market leader in the manufacture and development of high quality thermo-plastic tubes, hoses and strips (sheets), for industrial applications. The CD logo is a recognised sign of high quality merchandise throughout the world. Indeed, many of our product innovations have now become industry standards.
Technology transfer and licensing of know-how has been established in a number of overseas countries, in addition to supply of turn key thermo-plastic hose production lines. Our knowledge of recycling (separation of fibres from PVC) has enabled our clients to improve manufacturing efficiency and boost their profitability, and at the same time reduce waste and become environmentally responsible. The Leicester based factory has an enviable safety record and is a pleasant working environment. Large volumes of cold water are used in our processing of plastics, which is normal for our industry, all of which is recycled and maintained at constant temperature, with water quality monitored and maintained at optimum safety levels. All these best practice solutions and modus operandi are made available to our licensed clients overseas.
A prime ingredient to our success has been the long-standing relationships that we have established over the years with both customers and suppliers. This has required a high degree of trust, loyalty and commitment on all sides. This close communication has resulted in raw materials being designed or modified to meet customer’s technical requirements and tooling designed or manufacturing processes changed. This has enabled the Company to exploit new markets for our products and keep ahead of the competition.
Today, Copely products meet many international standards and we pride ourselves in being the first UK Company in our particular field to be granted BS 5750 in 1978, followed by BS EN ISO 9002. Copely Developments Ltd were also granted BS EN ISO 9001:2000 quality approval in July 2003. The factory is also Quality Assurance approval by the German TuV organisation, as are a number of individual product lines. We continue our ongoing strive for manufacturing excellence.
More recently, the Company has had to deal with the threat now posed by low cost emerging economies such as India and China and commercial links have been established in that region. Contact arrangements have been set up in Nanning, Guangxi, China to deal with our commercial transactions and some more consumer orientated product lines are already being manufactured by selected partners under close quality surveillance.
